Humanitree House Opens Fast-Casual Eatery in Laney-Walker Area
Humanitree House has been a staple in downtown Augusta for years, particularly for those looking for healthy, locally-sourced and vegan lunch options. Now the restaurant is bringing its organic approach to cuisine to the Laney-Walker area.
Last month, Denise and Baruti Tucker, owners of Humanitree House, opened a new, smaller location of the restaurant called Humanitree House Grab n’ Go, which is located at 1378 Laney Walker Blvd.
The fast-casual eatery is open Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Like the main location, Humanitree House’s express restaurant is built on cold-pressed juice, smoothies, salads and breakfast bowls, but doesn’t include any items that require cooking. Fresh fruit and coffee are also on the menu.
“In the Laney-Walker district, there is absolutely zero healthy food,” Denise Tucker said of her inspiration to replicate Humanitree House on a small scale there. “There’s nowhere to grab something quick and healthy in the area.”
The breakfast and lunch spot is a new experience for some of the residents of the area; Tucker said she’s been met with a lot of curiosity. She describes it as a convenience store-type deli, with a look similar to that of Humanitree House on Eighth Street. It’s a spot where patrons grab a healthy lunch quickly.
“It was just knowing there were no options in this area for people who worked and lived around here,” Tucker said.
