Locally-based Website Provides Masters Week Traffic Updates
A website called Eureka Earth is providing traffic updates along the main thoroughfares of Augusta during the Masters.
A local company, Cīvicus Media LLC, has joined efforts with MVP Aviation (based at Augusta Regional Airport) to provide a free aerial webcast over area traffic during morning commutes throughout the week.
Flying along at 1,200 feet overhead, the company’s Cessna SuperHawk will be equipped with a high-definition camera connected directly to a web portal where viewers can watch.
Social media feeds will be provided to allow viewers to help direct the pilot and system operator to areas of particular interest. Coverage began Monday morning.
Augustans can expect to enjoy the free service daily through the end of the tournament.
Special air rules apply during the Masters and MVP Aviation says they “go beyond FAA standards to keep it safe.” They have established coordination with air traffic control and, as a premier flight training provider in the Augusta area,
“Although drone flights are prohibited during the Masters, manned camera flights are not,” said Dave Dobbins, who has flown surveillance in remote areas around the world. “With Eureka Earth, we can provide drone-type services in public airspace like nobody else. We’re live, high-definition, and interactive.”
