Legendary Coach to Speak at Dinner Event
An upcoming local dinner event will feature one of the most successful coaches in SEC history: former University of Georgia football coach Vince Dooley.
On April 25, The Pollock Company will present Dinner with Champions at First Baptist Church of Augusta, located at 3500 Walton Way.
All proceeds benefit the Augusta Rescue Mission, an organization dedicated to breaking the cycle of homelessness for men in the local community.
Dooley was head football coach of the University of Georgia from 1964-1988 and director of athletics from 1979-2004.
During Dooley’s 25 years as head football coach at Georgia, he guided the Bulldogs to a career record of 201-77-10, becoming only the ninth coach in NCAA Division 1 history to win over 200 games. The Bulldogs won one national championship (1980) and six SEC Championships during his tenure. He took his teams to 20 bowl games and coached a Heisman Trophy winner (Herschel Walker, 1982), a Maxwell Award winner (Walker, 1982), an Outland Award winner (Bill Stanfill, 1968), 40 First Team All-Americans and 10 Academic All-Americans.
Eight-person tables are being sold for $1,000 at the event. Individual tickets are $75. For more information or to purchase tickets, call (706) 722-2058, ext. 202.
