Longtime Augusta Deli Closes
The following is from a Walton Way Deli Facebook post:
To all of our customers and friends at Walton Way Deli,
Back in September of 1999 we opened a little place called the Walton Way Deli. I had a hard time deciding what to name it so I just called it “Walton Way Deli” because I figured people would automatically know where we were located. We wanted to make a small old fashioned place that was easily manageable and only open for lunch so we would have more time at home with our children. Well our deli slowly grew by word of mouth and soon more and more customers came to see us and we met many new people who became not just customers but friends. We worked hard to make everything just right and customers happy and took pride in everything we did. We have continued on our path for over 17 years now but I’m sorry to say that it has to end. Walton Way Deli is now closed as of July 13, 2017. We can no longer keep up with the cost to do business at our location with the increased rent and lease terms that have been imposed. We want to thank all of our loyal customers who have been there all along. We also want to thank all of our employees who worked along side us day in and day out. It is going to take us some time to get over this loss. The Deli has been our identity and our life for so long but it is just time to move on in a new direction. We will be focusing on our Augusta Honey Company and trying to make a future taking care of our honeybees and selling our honey and beeswax products. We are sorry that things ended so abruptly and we will miss you all. Thank you so very much.
Sincerely, Michael and Lisa Hogue
