CVB logoVisitors to the Augusta area are expected to spend nearly $5 million during the month of June, according to the Augusta Convention & Visitors Bureau and the Augusta Sports Council.

The biggest chunk of that amount, $1.75 million, will come June 2-4 when the Georgia Republican Party holds its state convention here. The PQ Sports Summer Championships will add another $606,000.

Various conventions, sports events and senior citizen trips make up the majority of the rest of the economic impact.

Total EEI is calculated based on research commissioned by both the Georgia Department of Economic Development and Destination Marketing Association International in conjunction with globally recognized research vendors, the U.S. Travel Association and Tourism Economics.
