Expert to Give Advice About Business Planning for the Future
Small business owners are often caught in the squeeze of not planning for the future, because they are too busy focusing on making payroll.
Woody Merry, a longtime financial advisor for AXA Advisors, is hosting a workshop to address the issue of business planning at 5 p.m. Thursday at the Garlic Clove, 4534 Washington Road, Evans.
“It will be an interactive evening with insightful, short videos meant for business owners to see themselves through the lens of other business owners’ challenges,” said Merry.
In the presentation titled “Business Killers,” Merry will identify the six most common excuses that business owners use to avoid planning for the future and protecting their employees.
“I know what my business is worth” delves into the importance of business valuation and buy sell agreements.
“I’m too busy running the business” looks at why asset protection and succession planning is so important.
“That’ll never happen to me” reviews what happens if the key person in the company gets sick and some options to insure the business will run smoothly.
“There’s plenty of time for that” shows the different aspects of retirement planning, income and partnership agreements.
“My business is my retirement” looks at other options for a business owner’s retirement
“You can’t beat Uncle Sam” focuses in on tax strategies and exit planning.
There is no charge, but seating is limited. Business owners and their key people or spouses are invited. Appetizers, soft drinks, beer and wine will be served.
