Kroger Milk Drive Will Benefit Families in Augusta Area
Got milk? Many families don’t but with the help of Kroger and Golden Harvest Food Bank, area families facing hunger issues will have the milk they need.
More than 12.5 million families face hunger and malnutrition in America and look to local food pantries to provide their essential food items. And while milk is one of the most requested items, it is one of the least donated. To help local food banks, Kroger’s Atlanta Division is supporting the Great American Milk Drive during Feeding America’s Hunger Action Month.
From Aug. 30 – Sept. 12, Kroger is inviting customers to “Pour It Forward” by purchasing a $1, $3 or $5 voucher at checkout to help the grocer meet its goal of raising $150,000 in vouchers for food banks to redeem for the milk they need. All donations collected in the Augusta area will benefit the Golden Harvest Food Bank.
“Kroger is committed to providing continuous hunger relief efforts in the communities we serve,” Glynn Jenkins, director of communications and public relations for Kroger’s Atlanta Division, said. “The ‘Pour It Forward’ program helps combat the issue of hunger by providing our food banks with a nutritious source of protein. Through this initiative, we can make a large impact in providing nutrition to those who are less fortunate.”
Kroger’s Atlanta Division is headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia and is one of the Southeast’s largest retail grocery chains with over 186 stores covering, Georgia, eastern Alabama and South Carolina.
