Downtown Augusta Restaurant Closing This Saturday

The Roosters Beak at 215 Tenth Street announced via Facebook on Tuesday that THIS Saturday would be the last night the restaurant and bar establishment would be open. Many downtown eateries have reported sales off by as much as half since the Augusta Richmond County Sheriff instituted “roadblocks” in an effort to stem DUI and crime in the downtown area. That coupled with a number of new restaurant openings in downtown has created a “smaller piece of the pie” for existing places.

Here is their FACEBOOK message posted for more than 2,700 fans to read.

“Its with great excitement, sadness, hope, and every other emotion under the sun, that we regretfully announce Rooster’s Beak last week of service starting today. this saturday will be our last night of service to the public.
We will miss our great staff that has provided the best work environment we could of ever asked for. we want to thank all the customers and especially our regulars over the almost five years of business. Words can not even come close to describe the gratefulness we have for all of you. We have learned so much and wish everyone the best.
On a good note, we are offering some great drink specials this week for the final week, so we hope to see all of our friends really soon…
bottle beer – 2.5 big beers – half off draft beer – 3.5 wine – half off bottles and glasses liquor – reduced, varies per drink item.”
