Aiken County Sam’s Club to Celebrate Grand Opening Oct. 3
Club to provide more than $60,000 to support community projects
Sam’s Club will open its new club at 220 U.S. Highway 1 in Aiken County on Thursday, Oct. 3, giving residents and small business owners the opportunity to access incredible savings on quality products in an area rich with history and culture. The Club will open to the public immediately following a Grand Opening Ceremony at 8 a.m. on Thursday.
“I know this new Sam’s Club has been anticipated in the community for a long time,so we’re tremendously excited to open our new club,” said Sam’s Club Manager Gerald Raymond. “The outstanding merchandise and incredible value make Sam’s Club a destination, and we look forward to serving our community for many years to come.”
Local dignitaries will be in attendance at the Grand Opening celebration. In addition, U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina offered his congratulations to Sam’s Club on its new location in Aiken.
“I know you will find our best assets to be the people of South Carolina,” Graham said. “We believe in hard work, determination, and character. I know that you will do well in this community and anticipate you will have many years of prosperity.”
The Aiken Sam’s Club brings new jobs with career opportunities to the community, and surrounding communities, employing approximately 180 associates.
“We’re thrilled to hire so many individuals from the area. We were confident we would find great talent in the community,” Raymond said.

Bright, Environmentally Friendly Atmosphere
The new club features a shopper-friendly interior layout that measures approximately 136,000 square feet. That’s big enough to fit two Aiken High School football fields inside, with enough products to have a celebration for the whole school.
As an innovative steward of the communities they serve, Sam’s Club utilizes a variety of environmentally-friendly materials and energy-efficient fixtures, including several daylight-harvesting skylights that reduce the amount of energy required to light the store by up to 75 percent daily. LED lighting throughout the club, including in the cooler and freezer box doors and jewelry counter, operates 70 percent more efficiently than traditional fluorescent lighting.
Hearing, Optical Centers Among Amenities
The new club will include a Sam’s Club Hearing Aid Center, offering premium technology in hearing aid and personal listening devices alongside the care of a certified audiologist, in addition to an Optical Center.
Other health and wellness benefits include the Sam’s Club pharmacy, open to members and the public, featuring $4 and $10 on many generic prescriptions and extraordinary savings on branded prescriptions (see qualifying medications here). Sam’s Club will host free health screenings as a part of the Grand Opening, and will also host free monthly health screenings to help members take charge of their health through preventative measures.

Grants being presented during the grand opening ceremony include: USC-Aiken Veterans Program, the Aiken Sheriff’s Office, Aiken Technical College, the Child Advocacy Center of Aiken County, The Cumbee Center to Support Abused Persons, Helping Hands Aiken, the Tri-Development Center of Aiken County, the Savannah River Cancer Foundation, the Aiken Boys and Girls Club, and the Aiken Mid-Day Lion’s Club. In addition to these grants, Sam’s Club is also supporting the community through its $35,000 donation to the Greater Aiken Integrated Trails Foundation to fund the Langley Pond Loop. This trail will provide the opportunity for the community to bike, jog, hike and walk while enjoying all nature has to offer.
