Convention and Visitors Bureau Selects New President
The Augusta Convention and Visitors Bureau has named a new leader in the wake of former president and CEO Barry White’s departure, according to a press release from the CVB.
Bennish Brown, president and CEO of Washington-based travel organization Travel Tacoma + Pierce County, will replace White, who recently joined the tourism board in Chattanooga.
Brown will take the helm at the CVB on July 9.
“It brings me back to a part of the country where I’ve spent most of my life,” said Brown, who spent 12 years as the executive director of the Rock Hill/York County Convention and Visitors Bureau in Rock Hill, SC.
“We’re excited to welcome Bennish to Augusta,” said ACVB Chair Phil Wahl. “After a nationwide search, his proven track record in recruiting visitors for both convention and leisure travel to stimulate economic impact through visitor spending was unmatched.”
Brown was recently elected to the Board of Directors of Destinations International, a resource for official destinations organizations, convention and visitor bureaus and tourism boards. He is also a member of the Board of Directors for the Washington Tourism Alliance. He has experience working in radio, tourism and public relations.
“I’m excited to part of leadership efforts to help grow Augusta’s economy through effective tourism sales and marketing efforts,” Brown said.
