Weight Loss Clinic Collecting School Supplies for Underprivileged Children
Bee Healthy, a weight loss clinic with locations in Evans and Aiken (and three more in South Carolina), is collecting school supplies for underprivileged children in the CSRA.
The clinic’s collections will be donated to The Mentor Network, a health and human services provider that aims to help individuals thrive in their homes and communities. The donations will benefit The Mentor Network’s foster families, as well as underprivileged children who have yet to be placed with families.
“Our marketing strategy is always to work with our local community,” says Bee Healthy Creative Director Leann Emel. “So for us to partner with them is right in line with what we care about the most.”
Augusta’s WRDW News 12 reported that the cost of new school supplies for kids regularly adds up to around $141, a price point that can make school supplies unattainable for families and children struggling to make ends meet.
“We wanted to give back to our community,” Emel says. “We officially started on Saturday of last week, and there’s been a lot of positive feedback from it.”
Bee Healthy’s “Back to School” drive is running to August 4th and all donations will be provided to The Mentor Network on the 5th. Supplies can be dropped off at any of the five Bee Healthy locations.
