Jay’s Music Update
By Amanda King
What was a well-known Augusta business for 25 years is now a pile of rubble on Washington Road.
On Tuesday November 15th, Buzz on Biz was the first to bring you information that Jay’s Music had been purchased by the Augusta National Holding Group and that they would relocate to Piccadilly Cafeteria down the street on 3110 Washington Road.
The Augusta Chronicle was later able to report that the Jay’s property was purchased for $5.35 million, despite its taxable value only being $637,900.
The National has not revealed what will be in its place after demolishment is complete.
The new two-story media center is directly behind the former Jay’s Music property.
“Upon your arrival next year, you’ll have the best media facility in the world,” Augusta National chairman Billy Payne said in a press conference during the Masters Golf Tournament this year.
Owner Doug Frohman previously stated that the former restaurant would need extensive renovations to be more accommodating to a retail store, but those have not been completed at this time.
We will continue to bring you updates as they occur. For more details about the sale, check out our original story here.
